Holy cats. I was excited to read this because, well, obvious overlaps in interest. Only to nearly fall out of my chair reading the name checks! Ha. Makes me happy we facilitated that piece. What a lovely, eerie, compelling read. This post is most definitely charged up with history-splicing magic powers.

I've always been really happy with this piece, which I'm pretty sure hasn't appeared online before. Being able to embed Gysin and Burroughs stuff is a godsend for this particular post. I picked this for a reading in LA once and it went over really well. Are any issues of 52nd City online? Historiola! is one of my favorite Substacks so thanks for doing what you do!

We loved it, too! I'm so glad you posted it, and that it got a live read. 52nd City is still kinda-sorta online, but we never posted the print stuff digitally. It's funny, TC was just wondering last week if anyone still looks at the site, and whether or not to take it down. It might be worth scanning some of those old issues and posting them somewhere. Thanks for the kind words for Historiola! It's always fun to write, but it's more fun when people actually want to read it/are getting something out of it. : )
